I'm having a real hard time describing Diet Coke with Splenda. I'll start by simply saying I like it. But it isn't much like Diet Coke in flavor. Or regular Coke. Or anything else on the market, really. It's got some properties reminiscent of Ginger Ale, like Ginger Ale was mixed into Coke. I'd be very excited if more sodas come out in alternative Splenda versions, becaue it really has the potential to create a whole new class of soft drinks. You know how diet versions rarely taste like the drinks they are named after (with the most glaring exception being Diet Dr. Pepper)? This would likely go the same way, but in whole new directions.
Which would, of course, mean a whole new slew of soft drink reviews for me to do.
Coming next in my soft drink reviews: I am working on experimenting with the new "recipe book" Quik Trip has, to mix different soft drinks and flavors of their other kinds of beverages. I'll keep track of it all, and probably post one big review of the experience, along with my favorites and combinations that you may want to avoid (unless frozen rat spleen is up your alley).
