This being a weissbier, I automatically stuck a lemon onto the side of the glass. I think, though, that in this case it would have been better without it. I still thoroughly enjoyed the beer, mind you. But at the taste test I went to a long while back there were at least two kinds of Weihenstephaner weissbiers, and I am trying to narrow down which one it was I LOVED (versus the others, which I just enjoyed). Sunflower Market, which just opened by me, carries several Weihenstephaner varieties in 16.9 fl. oz. bottles, and I bought two. Perhaps the other I got is the right one. I'll let you know.
In 1040 beer brewing officially began at Weihenstephan. That year Abbot Arnold succeeded in obtaining from the City of Freising a licence to brew and sell beer. That hour marked the birth of the Weihenstephan Monastery Brewery.
