This movie was great! If somehow you didn’t read anything about the movie, didn’t buy your own ticket as to not get a comic book, and also just assumed the big marvel presentation/advertisement right before the movie had something to do with the spider-man preview, then you wouldn’t of known it was based on a comic book. The movie instead of giving our hero some crazy powers that made him unbeatable the character was actually very believable. In fact the character was more believable then a lot of action movies. Instead of The Punisher being a perfect shot he in fact was not and often ended up getting shot himself. I found it refreshing to see this regular guy run out of bullets in his guns.
For those that do not know the story here are the basics. Frank Castle (Thomas Jane) was married with a son. He did special ops for the government and we start the movie with him doing his last job for them. But something goes wrong and the wrong person dies. This sends Howard Saint (John Travolta) after him in revenge. And instead of just killing Frank they actually kill all of his extended family. Frank amazingly survives and with nobody left alive he goes out to punish those who have done this to his family.
If you are looking for a comic book movie like Spider-man or Daredevil this isn’t it. However this is a great action movie. I find this will be good for both men and women. Not only does it have some great fight scenes but it also makes you understand what Frank is going through. But don’t worry there is not much dialogue. Castle tends to stay pretty silent during the movie. Over all I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars
